Katherine Delmar Burke School (“Burke’s”, “us” or “we”) is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting any personal information you share with us. You can visit our website without revealing personal information. In some cases, however, we may ask for personal information in order to provide the services you request. Such information will be used by Burke’s only to conduct official school business and will never be disseminated by Burke’s to any unaffiliated third party. All of the information that we collect from you is subject to this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. By using this site, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Terms of Use

This website is intended to provide news and information about Burke’s. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the content.
No part of this site or its contents - including, but not limited to, the school logo - may be copied, reproduced, modified, retransmitted, distributed, published, commercially exploited or otherwise transferred without written permission from Burke’s.

Collection of Personal Information

Burke’s does not track, collect or distribute personal information about site visitors. However, we do collect some information about site visits. We have access to domain names and I.P. addresses of visitors. We compile statistics that show the number of visitors and the number of requests we receive for particular pages or files on the site. These statistics are used internally to evaluate and improve the site. The statistics contain no personal information (or email addresses) and cannot be used to gather such information.

Burke’s Parents/Guardians are provided access to specific password-protected areas of our website, which may contain personally identifiable information, such as contact information for other Burke’s parents or families.

Depending on how you use this Website, Burke’s may request personal information from you, such as your name, child’s name, birth date and grade, address, phone number, email, and credit card information.
 
  • Admission Inquiry and Application. Those interested in applying to Burke’s may submit an online admission inquiry form, and may be invited to participate in the online application process. The online application process may include submitting an online application, payment of an application fee and scheduling admissions-related appointments and events. The admission inquiry form and application will ask for information about the prospective student and the prospective student’s parents or guardians, including the student’s name, grade, current school, siblings, ethnicity, photo, birthdate, interests and contact information.

  • Program Registration and Sign-up Forms. Burke’s provides parents and other visitors with the ability to register and sign-up online for a variety of different school-related events, programs, and activities. If you choose to use these online forms, you may be asked to provide your name, son’s name and grade, phone number, email, and other information relating to the event, program or activity. In some cases there may be a payment requested (such as After School Enrichment Program classes or Benefit Count-Me-Ins).

  • Email and Text Notifications. Certain users of the MyBurke’s portion of the website have the option to receive notifications by email or text message to their mobile phone. To determine your notification settings, log into your MyBurke’s account, go to Your Name (upper right), select Settings from the drop-down menu, select the Notifications tab, and enter your email and/or text number, as applicable. It is the responsibility of each individual to update their contact information, and provide the school with updated contact information

  • Online Directories. Parents/guardians, staff, faculty and other members of the Burke’s community with MyBurke’s user accounts may provide or update Burke’s with certain contact information on the MyBurke’s School portion of the Website, such as their address, email address, phone number, employer or school information, using online forms available on the Website. The information provided will be included in the individual’s profile (along with other information relating to the individual, such as the individual’s family members), and may be included in the online directories. The online directories are accessible to members of the Burke’s community with MyBurke’s user accounts, though the information that is accessible may depend on the community member’s role and level of access. If you are a parent and you prefer your family’s information to not be included in Burke’s online directories (or for the information to be limited in some manner), you may be able to remove certain information directly through your MyBurke’s profile, or you can contact us at communications@burkes.org.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

Burke’s will not sell, rent or license your personal information to anyone for any reason. Other than in the online directories described above, any personal information you provide will not be shared by Burke’s to third parties unless you have given Burke’s permission to do so or except as expressly provided for below.
Burke’s may share your information with individuals or companies that perform services for us, such as our school photographers, website hosts, financial institutions, and communication services. These service providers may have access to, and may use and disclose, your information as needed to perform their functions, but may not use or disclose your information for other purposes.
Burke’s may also disclose your personal information if Burke’s believes that such action is needed to: (1) comply with the law or the legal process, (2) protect against misuse or unauthorized use or access of this Website, or (3) protect the personal safety, property, or rights of any member of Burke’s community.

Email Privacy and Spam

The website contains email addresses of faculty and staff and (within the password-protected parts of the site) Burke’s parents. Use of this information for private, commercial, or political mailings and/or distribution to any outside party is prohibited. If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please contact Burke’s.

Student Privacy

Burke’s is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. We do not post the full names of students on the public pages of our website. Images of students are used on the public pages of the site; however, students are never identified by name in images. Within the password-protected pages of the site, use of students' full names is allowed and students can also be identified by full name in images.

Online Giving and Other Transactions

We are committed to the privacy of all our donors and to those making any kind of transaction via the Burke’s website. Should you decide to make an online donation or purchase, you will be asked to provide your name, contact information and credit card billing information. All of this information is encrypted using SSL, an industry-standard secure technology designed to prevent the theft or interception of the information you provide. Credit card billing information is used only to obtain payment from the appropriate credit card firm and to fulfill the donor's or purchaser's request and is not stored or otherwise retained by Burke’s after the transaction is complete.
