Fourth graders are making sure Lower Schoolers know exactly which books are worth the hype.
In a class led by Lower School Library & Digital Media Specialist Diana Rivers and supported by School Library Assistant Alessandra Pagani, the Class of 2030 was challenged to write a review of a book they read and liked and would recommend to others. They gave detailed reasons why people should read the book they reviewed.
“I recommend The Big Cheese,” London ‘30 wrote, “because Cheese thought he was THE BEST. He realized that he was not, but he became a better person, or should I say a better cheese.”
Not only was this challenge a practical lesson in reading comprehension and writing, but students also naturally engaged in social-emotional literacy, as evident in their written reviews.
Another student, Haley ‘30, expressed, “Because of Winn-Dixie is a good book because moments are funny, but some moments are sadder than others. You should check it out if you like longer books and are an animal lover. My personal favorite character is Winn-Dixie because he is so goofy and has a great personality.”
All book reviews by the fourth-grade class are on display in the Lower School Library until the end of the school year.
