Lisa McKnight '82

Lisa McKnight '82 was the 2022 Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient.

She is a globally recognized brand leader and former Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of Mattel, where she oversaw a multibillion-dollar portfolio including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, American Girl, and more than 100 global brands. Throughout her 30-year career, she has been widely credited with transforming iconic franchises, delivering record market share, and redefining how brands connect to culture and commerce. 

Lisa led the historic revitalization of the Barbie brand—nearly doubling the business, launching purpose-driven initiatives like the Barbie Dream Gap Project, and guiding the brand through its breakthrough moment with the Barbie movie, which became the highest-grossing film in Warner Bros.' history and earned multiple honors, including an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Grammy. She also expanded Mattel's entertainment and licensing partnerships, grew its digital reach to more than 170 million followers, and helped architect the company's long-term growth strategy.

A two-time Forbes Most Influential CMO, Lisa has been recognized with top honors, including Fast Company Top 10 CMOS of 2025, Adweek Brand Genius, Women in Toys Trailblazer, Cannes Lions, and Clio Awards. She is a frequent speaker at global stages such as Cannes Lions, Fast Company's Innovation Festival, Fortune Most Powerful Women, and the ANA Masters of Marketing.

Lisa serves on the University of Richmond Board of Trustees and the Association of National Advertisers Board of Directors. She is a graduate of Denison University and remains committed to mentoring the next generation of leaders. Lisa resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters, and loyal pup Louie.
