Sports Clinics

Volleyball Session only: August 7-11, $425 (after June 1, $475)

Basketball Session only
: August 12-15, $350 (after June 1, $395)

Sessions are from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. each day.

Who should sign up?
 
  • Students who are rising sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders.
  • Students who have played basketball or volleyball and are interested in improving their existing skills and understanding of the game in preparation for trying out for a team this year.
  • Students who have not played basketball or volleyball but are interested in trying out for a team in the coming school year and want to develop their skills in preparation.
  • Students who have not played basketball or volleyball but are interested in experiencing either sport to see whether playing on a school team might be of interest to them.
  • Students who are serious about taking on the challenge of improving themselves.
  • Students who want to get back into the Burke’s community spirit before the school year starts and have a fun and productive experience with their peers.

Clinic Descriptions

Basketball ClinicThe basketball session will cover skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defensive positioning, and movement and game tactics such as pressing, breaking the press, half-court offensive sets and defensive formations, running the break and secondary break, and transitional play.

Volleyball Clinic
The volleyball session will cover skills such as passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and serving and game tactics such as rotations, switching, tipping, quick set attack, back set attack, and defensive coverage.

Each day will be divided into a morning session from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and an afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. The morning session will focus on individual skills, and conditioning, while the afternoon session will feature game tactics and game play. Students will need to bring their lunch and will eat together and relax from 12-1 p.m.

Payment

Payment will be collected via TADS for Burke's students. Cancellations must be received two weeks prior to the start of each camp.

Staff

The Burke’s Summer Sports Clinic will be staffed by many of our regular season coaches along with some recent graduates of Burke’s Athletics serving not only as assistant coaches but also as role models for our current athletes.
