In this camp, we’ll hike Land’s End exploring and discovering the flora and fauna. We’ll collect seasonal specimens of the coastal flora to create our own beautiful botanical guidebooks. We’ll use our specimens to fill each page of our book with delicate print transfers from gelli plates. We’ll also create a collection of cyanotype prints, the original photography process used by Anna Atkins in 1843, the first book ever to be printed and illustrated by photography. We’ll also venture to the Legion of Honor to delve into the impact of the Industrial Revolution on society’s perception of nature, art, and color. Then, we’ll try our hand at an impressionist painting of the landscape around us.

Since 2010, ARTifact has been weaving art and anthropology together in ways you can’t find anywhere else. We believe that our hands have the power to craft community, color the world happy, and that we live in a rad time and place.
