Varsity Green Volleyball Retains BAIAL Title

In a three-game match at MCDS, the Varsity Green volleyball team held on to its BAIAL championship with a win over San Francisco Day School on Wednesday, November 8.
The team of eight eighth graders and two seventh graders dropped its first game 17-25, but came back with a 25-23 victory in the second and capped off the victory with a 15-12 third game.

According to Coach Ashling Bryant, it was a tough year for the team since all of last year's players graduated on to high school, but this group of players rose to the challenge. "What we lacked in experience we made up for in dogged determination, trust in each other, and good old-fashioned hard work!" she said. "Now we have a trophy that is so much more than a piece of wood and a little golden volleyball figure on top because it symbolizes all of the above: the blood, the sweat, and the tears; the lessons learned; the memories, the joy, and the gratitude."
