Makery Music Time

How many times have you heard Ode to Joy played on an apple piano?

The Lower School Makery was filled with joyful sounds last week as our fourth graders showed off their piano skills with the Makey Makey controller. The beginning of the project involved students learning how to build circuits and tackle the question, “What is conductive?” They moved on to designing their playable instrument from everyday objects like fruits and vegetables and finally coded their key presses into their iPads to create games and music. Click here and here to watch some students playing their songs!

It is just one example of the Makery Mindset that is felt across campus and in every classroom. Our students feel free to try out their ideas and make mistakes, collaborate and work together, with no limits to their creativity.
