Burke's Community Connections

Involvement in the community grows our view of the world beyond the immediate and the self. It helps us see that we must be connected to others around us.

BCC Committee Work

Burke’s Community Connections (BCC) is a parent- and school-supported committee dedicated to inspiring students and families to adopt a tradition of community engagement.

The committee supports the work of the school to encourage Burke's students to think beyond themselves and the campus; give them a developmentally appropriate understanding of community responsibility; and enable them to see themselves as agents of positive change in the world.

The BCC has partnered this year with the Richmond Neighborhood Center, Surfrider Foundation, Compass Family Services, and Hamilton Families.  

Throughout the years students and Burke's community members participate in a number of opportunities that include:


  • Food pantry work days for each grade at the Richmond Neighborhood Center.

  • Education and reflection relating to community engagement.

  • Grocery delivery to homebound seniors and individuals with mobility issues.

  • Food drives and other seasonal drives.

  • Purposeful projects and grocery deliveries for the Richmond Neighborhood Center and homebound seniors.

  • Performances for neighborhood seniors.
