Fall 2021 Information

Our goals in the coming year are to prioritize the health and well-being of our community and partner with families to support our students’ learning, and social-emotional development as seamlessly as possible. Our commitment to the whole child has been — and continues to be — our North Star.

We are focusing on a fully in-person program for all students and faculty this fall and we will not be offering a distance learning program for students who do not attend in-person school. If your family has medical reasons such that you believe your child(ren) will need to be in distance learning next year, please contact your child(ren)'s division head.

Burke’s is asking all students, faculty, and staff to follow the CDC travel guidance during the Thanksgiving Break and in making plans for the Winter Break.
  • Unvaccinated students who travel by plane, bus, or train should get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after their return. At this time, we have interpreted the guidance to not restrict travel by car. For example, the school does not consider traveling in one’s car to Sacramento, Tahoe, etc. a trigger to following the current CDC Travel Guidelines.

  • Vaccinated Students: Follow CDC travel guidance but no testing or self-quarantine is required if traveling within the United States. (Fully vaccinated is two weeks past the second dose or has recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months.)
Burke’s will not be offering a synchronous remote learning program for students requiring quarantine after travel. Parents should notify Alice Moore, Director of Lower School, or Sheena Tart-Zelvin, Director of Upper School by Monday, November 15 if their child will be out of school during the week of November 29.

Absences & Distance Learning Protocols
Burke’s has returned to a fully in-person program five days a week allowing students to go to different classrooms for different subjects. As a result, elements of the hybrid learning model that facilitated the transition between in-person and distance learning are no longer in place. Please click here for guidance on how we will handle absences
Burke's Community Pledge
This community pledge is designed to help us successfully stay open with all elements of our program and to come together as a community to meet both the known and unknown challenges before us!

Vaccination Survey
California schools will be required to show the collective vaccination status of students and employees who learn/work on campus by October 1, 2021. To meet this requirement, Burke's is asking parents to provide information regarding the vaccination status of their child(ren) at Burke's. Click here to complete the survey.
